Recruiting : Fulltime, Permanent, Web Developer/Designer

BusyView has been running as a freelance operation for almost 10 years, designing, hosting and managing websites for small and medium-sized clients. Due to the amount of business now coming our way, and the number of contacts we have, we would like to turn BusyView into a fully-functioning web agency.

We are therefore looking for a web designer/web developer who would like to be ‘in at the beginning’ of something which is fast-growing and exciting.

We are looking for a web designer (Photoshop/HTML/CSS) with some development skills , or perhaps a web developer (PHP/MySQL/Javascript) with some web design skills.

Either way, if you have two or more of the following talents we would love to hear from you:

HTML / CSS

Proficient coding of HTML with CSS.

Be able to replicate an image (.JPG/.PNG) into a fully functioning website, using HTML and CSS. Sites must be fully operational and look beautiful across multiple browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari) plus operate on the growing number of tablets coming onto the market.

You should understand the difference between a CSS div and class, and know when to use the two.

Javascript

Ability to find snippets of Javascript from across sites on the web and incorporate into client sites. Even better if you’re comfortable and fluent with any Javascript and/or AJAX libraries, such as jQuery or Scriptalicious.

Design Skills

Have the ability to create beautiful looking, professional websites which immediately stand out from the competition (and the myriad of bad small business websites on the web) in visual format first. Comfortable with creating your vision in Photoshop or alternative drawing/editing software in .JPGs/.PNGs for clients to view and approve.

PHP/MySQL

Demonstrate a level of comfort with PHP (even if it’s just the occasional include() function). But perhaps you are less of a designer, and more of a developer? In which case you have good PHP skills, can write new functions and work with classes to interact with MySQL databases which you have, in turn, set up to enable a level of interactivity across a range of websites. It would be useful you could set up a MySQL database and then install local versions of WordPress for clients, skinning it with client-approved designs. If you have even more technical skills eg setting up a LAMP installation locally, we are keen to hear from you.

Search Engine Optimisation

Useful if you understand the way different search engines work. But we can teach and pass on these skills.

The Person

You will be friendly, open-minded, positive, flexible, willing to “go beyond the call of duty”, and be willing to contribute hugely to a busy but fun environment. If you are looking for the comfort and structure of a corporate or large company, with pension schemes, mentoring schemes, defined, hierarchical grading structures and management courses, we definitely are not for you.

Skills We Don’t (Yet) Need

Skills we’re not looking for (yet). We’re an agency looking to use open-source software (LAMP) and have absolutely no experience with Microsoft or Microsoft Certified Solutions. We’re sure, as we grow, this will change. But for now, we intend to build upon what we know.

If you think this could be you, contact us via this form ASAP or call Simon on 07976 150 184.
